Questions and Answers
- "Can I use your models on my game server?"
My models are either in public domain, or without license at all: the ones in public domain you can use absolutely freely for whatever you want (these are my original characters that, due to CC0, has no IP owner), meanwhile unlicensed ones are in somewhat grey area - these are 'fan art' of an already existing character or person that most certanly is someone's IP, and that someone could very easily apply legal bullying to me and you
- "Here, you say that I can use your models without any restrictions but in your model files you say that I should give credit"
You can use this model freely since it is most certainly not mine :) It is probably a coarse mash up of various models from various palces that were taken without any attribution or notification. So if you see me there crying "my model!!! don't use it!!!" - use it anyway because I was no better than you or other gmod workshop mashupers.
- "Why no Patreon / Gumroad / whatever? Why post your work on a website that nobody is going to see?"
Patreon and similar services lose purpose when you plan to publish your stuff freely. Also most (if not all) of these patreons and boosties require an account for an end user, which only hurts - if some guy posts things there for free, why can't I download these things without giving my email, phone number and old dog's name to some another bullshit service??? Art should be shared freely without restrictions. 'Support the artist' excuse also don't really work (at least for me) - you can always just donate to them if you want to show support. With your self-hosted website you have ABSOLUTE CONTROL over your content and how it could be shared.
